Australian Data Centres strengthens executive team with three senior appointments

Australian Data Centres (ADC) has taken another step in its growth trajectory by appointing three senior leaders to its executive team: Matt Holden as Chief Operating Officer (COO), Greg Gale as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), and Peter Adcock as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

According to Executive Chairman Rob Kelly, the appointments are designed to significantly expand ADC’s presence across Australia by appealing to both global customers and industry partners.

“ADC’s management team is now fully loaded, future-focused and ready to offer a new scale of flexible co-location and build-to-suit sovereign data storage solutions tailored to our customers’ long-term requirements—whether they are seeking agility, control, or cost efficiency,” Kelly said.

Experience and expertise across the leadership bench

Holden brings more than 30 years of IT and data centre experience, most recently serving as Government Business Unit Director at NextDC. His career includes senior roles at Leading Edge Data Centres, CBRE Asia Pacific, Chef Software, CDC Data Centres, Hewlett-Packard, Telstra, and IBM.

ADC CEO Mark Pont described Holden’s experience as critical for navigating the diverse needs of government, Defence, and hyperscale clients.

“Matt’s track record positions ADC to deliver high-assurance, next-generation data centre environments,” Pont said.

Gale, who steps in as CISO, comes with over 25 years of cybersecurity and IT experience across both private and public sectors. Most recently, he was Microsoft’s Security and Accreditation Leader, where he oversaw the PROTECTED certification for Azure and Microsoft 365—the first hyperscale cloud certification of its kind in Australia. His earlier career includes roles at Cisco, Intellidox, the Department of Defence (where he served as National Security Officer), and Western Australia Police.

Pont highlighted Gale’s role in strengthening Australia’s cloud and cybersecurity frameworks, particularly for government and regulated industries.

Meanwhile, Adcock joins ADC as CTO following a leadership role at global advisory ARUP, where he led its data centre design team. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade at Digital Realty as Vice President of Design and Construction for Asia Pacific. His background includes extensive expertise in high-density and AI-driven environments, as well as managing GPU-intensive workloads.

Pont noted that Adcock’s engineering expertise and delivery track record will be key to ADC’s expansion.

“Peter’s leadership will be critical as we continue to scale our sovereign, AI-ready data centre footprint to meet the needs of our clients and support Australia’s national capability,” he said.

Positioning for growth

The leadership appointments come shortly after Pont himself took on the role of CEO in August, marking a pivotal moment in ADC’s strategy to accelerate growth and build sovereign, future-ready data centre infrastructure.
