Cloudwerx Taps Ex-Accenture Leader Brendan Connolly as COO to Drive Data and AI Growth

Australian digital consultancy Cloudwerx has appointed Brendan Connolly, former Managing Director and Data & AI Go-to-Market Lead for Australia and New Zealand at Accenture, as its new Chief Operating Officer and Head of Data and Agentic AI.

The move underscores Cloudwerx’s ambition to expand its data and AI-driven consulting capabilities across the region. Connolly will lead the company’s delivery and operational strategy — including efforts to productise its agentic AI frameworks and broaden its expertise across Salesforce, data, and enterprise transformation platforms.

Leadership Transition and Expansion

Connolly succeeds Miha Remec, Cloudwerx’s co-founder, who transitions into the role of Chief Financial Officer.

With more than 25 years of experience, Connolly brings a strong background in consulting and data leadership. Before joining Cloudwerx, he spent nearly a decade at Accenture driving its Data & AI go-to-market practice, and previously held senior roles at Cloud Sherpas, Pactera, BearingPoint, and EPC. He also served as an SRM Solution Architect for the UK Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.

Strengthening Cloudwerx’s AI and Cloud DNA

Connolly’s arrival reunites him with several former Cloud Sherpas colleagues — Toby Wilcock (CEO), Alyssia Tennant (Chief Growth Officer), John Cosgrove (Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer), and Chris Baldock (CTO).

This lineup reinforces Cloudwerx’s strong heritage in cloud transformation and consulting, blending deep technical expertise with agile delivery models that scale enterprise AI initiatives.

Executive Confidence in Growth

“Brendan is a proven business builder, and his decision to join Cloudwerx is a real vote of confidence in the business we’ve built and the talent within our team,” said Toby Wilcock, CEO of Cloudwerx. “I have no doubt we will go from strength to strength with him onboard.”

Connolly echoed this sentiment, emphasizing Cloudwerx’s forward-looking approach to AI-driven consulting.

“Clients of every scale want delivery that’s simpler and more predictable,” Connolly said. “If AI speeds work, services should reflect that — and Cloudwerx is leading the way in redefining how consulting services are delivered.”

Accelerating the Agentic AI Vision

Cloudwerx has deepened its investment in AI innovation following its 2024 acquisition of consultancy Lightfold, enhancing its capabilities in applied AI, automation, and cloud infrastructure.

With Connolly now leading operations and data strategy, the company aims to push further into agentic AI — a next-generation model that integrates human expertise and intelligent automation to transform how enterprises deploy, manage, and scale technology.
