Macquarie Telecom has welcomed back Mike King as its new National Sales Director, marking his third return to the company. A seasoned leader in Australia’s telecom and cloud market, King brings more than 20 years of experience in enterprise sales across major industry players.
Extensive Industry Experience
Most recently, King served as Head of Enterprise and Government Sales at TPG Telecom. He has also held senior roles at NTT Communications ICT Solutions and Optus, building a career centered on helping enterprises adopt advanced telecom and technology solutions.
His history with Macquarie dates back to 2011, when he joined as NSW State Sales Manager. He later returned in 2018, staying until 2021 before taking on leadership roles elsewhere. His third appointment signals both continuity and renewed focus for Macquarie Telecom.
A Customer-First Approach
In discussing his new role, King pointed to the challenges many enterprises face when dealing with larger telcos.
“Many large telcos continue to overcharge and underdeliver. This will only worsen as the big players favour their core offerings while abandoning the products and services customers have long relied on,” he said.
King believes Macquarie Telecom is well positioned to challenge this trend. The company continues to invest heavily in its managed technology portfolio, spanning SD-WAN, SASE, cloud services, cybersecurity, and data centre offerings.
