As demand for cloud and AI infrastructure surges across Asia, companies are moving quickly to strengthen leadership and execution capabilities. For Digital Edge India, the latest executive appointments signal a clear push to scale operations and capture growth in one of the world’s fastest-expanding digital economies.
The company has announced the appointment of Sairam Prasad as Chief Executive Officer and Kamlesh Harchandarni as Chief Development & Construction Officer, reinforcing its leadership bench as it expands beyond its flagship Navi Mumbai campus.
Scaling Infrastructure for a Rapidly Growing Market
Digital Edge India operates as a joint venture between Digital Edge and National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), with a focus on building next-generation cloud and AI-ready data center infrastructure.
India’s rapid digital adoption — driven by enterprise cloud migration, AI workloads, and data localization requirements — is fueling demand for hyperscale infrastructure. In response, Digital Edge India is scaling its footprint, including the continued development of its 350+ MW Navi Mumbai campus.
These leadership appointments are designed to support that expansion by strengthening execution across both business strategy and infrastructure delivery.
Leadership Built for Execution and Scale
As CEO, Sairam Prasad will lead the company’s next phase of growth, focusing on delivering scalable, resilient, and sustainable infrastructure across India.
He brings more than three decades of experience across digital infrastructure, telecommunications, and energy, with leadership roles at major organizations including Reliance Jio, Tata Communications, Idea Cellular, Bharti Infratel, and Axiata Group.
Most recently, he served as CEO of global operations at Suzlon Energy Limited, further strengthening his experience in large-scale infrastructure and energy systems.
His background positions him to navigate the intersection of power, connectivity, and digital infrastructure — all critical components in scaling data center platforms.
Driving Development and Delivery Excellence
Complementing this, Kamlesh Harchandarni will lead design and construction across Digital Edge India’s portfolio.
With over 30 years of experience — including nearly two decades in the data center sector — he brings deep expertise in managing complex infrastructure projects from concept to execution.
Prior to joining Digital Edge India, he served as Vice President and Head of Design & Development at CapitaLand Data Centre India, where he was instrumental in delivering over 200 MW of capacity and supporting multi-site expansion strategies.
In his new role, he will focus on ensuring efficient project delivery, cost control, and sustainability, while addressing industry challenges such as energy availability and advanced cooling technologies.
Strengthening Position in a Competitive Landscape
According to John Freeman, the appointments come at a critical stage in the company’s growth journey.
“India is a priority market for us,” Freeman said. “Strengthening our leadership team ensures we can scale with speed and discipline as demand for cloud and AI-ready infrastructure continues to accelerate.”
This move reflects a broader industry trend where data center providers are investing heavily in leadership talent to manage increasingly complex builds and meet hyperscaler demand.
Powering the Next Phase of Digital Transformation
Backed by Stonepeak, Digital Edge continues to expand its footprint across Asia-Pacific, supporting enterprises and hyperscalers with high-performance and sustainable infrastructure.
With over 1.8GW of secured IT power across its platform, the company is positioning itself as a key enabler of digital transformation in the region.
For Digital Edge India, the addition of experienced leadership marks a strategic step toward scaling its platform — ensuring it can meet the growing needs of cloud providers, AI-driven enterprises, and the broader digital economy.
