Fastly Appoints Bruce Bennie to Lead A/NZ Sales Expansion Amid Rising Demand for Edge Cloud and AI Infrastructure

As enterprises continue modernizing digital experiences and preparing infrastructure for AI-driven workloads, Fastly has appointed Bruce Bennie as its new Area Vice President of Sales for Australia and New Zealand.

The appointment reflects Fastly’s continued investment in the A/NZ market as demand grows for edge cloud platforms, low-latency digital delivery, application security, and AI-ready infrastructure solutions.

Based in Sydney, Bennie will oversee Fastly’s regional sales operations, customer growth initiatives, and partner ecosystem strategy across Australia and New Zealand. He succeeds Derek Rast, who departed the company earlier this year.

Strengthening Regional Growth Strategy

Fastly said Bennie’s focus will center on expanding the company’s enterprise customer base, strengthening channel and partner relationships, and accelerating regional growth opportunities as organizations increasingly prioritize secure and distributed cloud architectures.

The company has been positioning its edge cloud platform as a critical layer for businesses managing high-performance applications, real-time digital services, and AI-powered experiences that require faster processing closer to end users.

As AI adoption accelerates across industries, edge infrastructure providers are seeing increased enterprise interest in platforms capable of handling real-time workloads while improving security and reducing latency.

Veteran Technology Leader Joins Fastly

Bennie joins Fastly with more than three decades of experience across the Australian and New Zealand technology and telecommunications sector.

Throughout his career, he has held senior leadership positions spanning enterprise technology, networking, telecoms, government, and financial services industries.

Before joining Fastly, Bennie worked in multiple leadership roles at Juniper Networks and also helped build teams and business units at companies including Infoblox and Blue Coat Systems.

In addition to his operational leadership experience, Bennie has also advised venture capital-backed businesses and publicly listed technology companies.

According to Bennie, Fastly’s direction around edge cloud innovation, AI infrastructure, and application security played a major role in his decision to join the company.

He noted that the region presents significant growth opportunities, particularly as enterprises continue looking for ways to improve digital performance and customer experience outcomes.

Fastly Expands Focus on AI and Security

The leadership appointment comes during a period where cloud infrastructure providers are increasingly competing around AI readiness, cybersecurity capabilities, and distributed computing performance.

Fastly has continued investing heavily in technologies tied to edge computing and application security, areas becoming more critical as organizations deploy AI-enabled applications and real-time digital services globally.

Nicola Gerber said Bennie’s leadership background and enterprise experience will help support Fastly’s next stage of growth across the region.

She added that his expertise in scaling businesses and leading enterprise technology teams aligns with the company’s long-term expansion strategy in Australia and New Zealand.

Edge Infrastructure Becoming a Strategic Priority

Fastly’s latest executive appointment highlights a broader shift happening across enterprise infrastructure markets, where edge cloud services are increasingly viewed as strategic enablers for AI deployment, cybersecurity resilience, and digital customer engagement.

With businesses demanding faster, more secure, and highly distributed digital environments, providers capable of combining edge performance with AI infrastructure readiness are becoming increasingly important across industries.

For Fastly, strengthening its regional leadership team signals a continued commitment to growing its footprint in Australia and New Zealand as enterprises invest in next-generation cloud and security architectures.
