As organizations across Asia Pacific accelerate AI adoption and digital transformation, cybersecurity vendors are strengthening their regional leadership to meet growing demand. Fortinet is the latest to make a strategic executive move.
The cybersecurity company has appointed Luca Simonelli as Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific, placing him in charge of the company’s sales organization across one of its fastest-growing regions.
Based in Singapore, Simonelli will oversee Fortinet’s operations across Japan, North Asia, Southeast Asia, India & SAARC, Australia, and New Zealand. His responsibilities include driving regional strategy, expanding customer and partner relationships, and supporting the company’s long-term growth across Asia Pacific.
Returning to Fortinet With Global Leadership Experience
Simonelli brings more than three decades of experience in enterprise technology, with expertise spanning cybersecurity, networking, SASE, cloud security, and managed services.
Before rejoining Fortinet, he held a senior leadership role at GCX Managed Services. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly eight years at Fortinet, where he led the company’s business across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
His background includes building regional organizations and leading large enterprise teams across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific.
Supporting a Rapidly Growing Cybersecurity Market
According to Joe Sarno, Executive Vice President of International Sales at Fortinet, Asia Pacific remains one of the company’s most important growth markets.
Organizations across the region continue to invest in AI, cloud technologies, and critical infrastructure modernization. As these initiatives expand, businesses are placing greater emphasis on integrated cybersecurity platforms that protect increasingly complex digital environments.
Sarno said Simonelli’s leadership experience and customer-focused approach will help Fortinet strengthen its presence while supporting customers and partners throughout the region.
AI and Cybersecurity Continue to Converge
Simonelli said organizations are looking for security platforms that combine networking, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence to simplify operations while improving cyber resilience.
He noted that as enterprises modernize their infrastructure and adopt AI technologies, Fortinet is positioned to help customers secure every stage of their digital transformation.
His appointment aligns with the company’s broader strategy of expanding its Security Fabric platform as demand grows for integrated security solutions capable of protecting hybrid and AI-powered environments.
Strengthening Regional Execution
Leadership appointments like this reflect how cybersecurity vendors are investing in experienced executives to support regional expansion and enterprise growth.
With Simonelli returning to Fortinet, the company is reinforcing its commitment to Asia Pacific as organizations continue increasing investments in AI, cloud computing, networking, and cybersecurity.
The appointment also positions Fortinet to deepen engagement with customers and partners as demand for integrated security platforms continues to rise across the region.
