Adyen Appoints Gary Yang as Asia Pacific President to Lead Next Phase of Regional Growth

As digital payments continue to evolve across Asia Pacific, fintech companies are strengthening their leadership teams to support expanding customer demand, regional operations, and the growing role of AI in commerce. Leadership transitions are increasingly focused on balancing continuity with experience as payment providers scale across some of the world’s fastest-growing markets.

Adyen has appointed Gary Yang as President for Asia Pacific, effective August 1, 2026, succeeding Warren Hayashi, who will retire at the end of the year after nearly a decade leading the company’s regional business.

Based in Singapore, Yang will oversee Adyen’s commercial strategy and operations across Asia Pacific while continuing to strengthen relationships with merchants and partners throughout the region.

A Leadership Transition Built on Internal Experience

Yang joined Adyen in 2018 and most recently served as Senior Vice President and Global Head of Account Management and Partnerships, where he led the company’s merchant success initiatives and expanded its global partner ecosystem.

Before joining Adyen, he held leadership positions across the technology industry, including roles at Peek, viagogo, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Microsoft, Booz Allen Hamilton, and GGV Capital. His background combines expertise in software engineering, product management, strategy consulting, venture capital, and commercial operations.

His appointment reflects Adyen’s approach of promoting experienced internal leaders into key regional positions as the company continues expanding its global payments platform.

Supporting Growth Across Asia Pacific

As President for Asia Pacific, Yang will oversee Adyen’s business across nine regional markets, including Singapore, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, China, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, and other strategic markets.

The company serves a diverse portfolio of enterprise customers across travel, retail, hospitality, and e-commerce, including Amazon Japan, Agoda, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Klook, Temu, UNIQLO, Xiaomi, Hungry Jack’s, and Mandai Wildlife Group.

With digital commerce continuing to expand across the region, Adyen is focused on helping merchants modernize payment infrastructure while supporting cross-border growth and increasingly AI-enabled customer experiences.

Building on a Strong Regional Foundation

Outgoing President Warren Hayashi said Yang’s extensive knowledge of Adyen’s global commercial operations and technical expertise positions him well to continue building on the company’s momentum in Asia Pacific.

Chief Commercial Officer Roelant Prins added that placing experienced global leaders into strategic regional roles remains a core part of Adyen’s long-term growth strategy, allowing the company to combine global expertise with local market execution.

Yang noted that Asia Pacific is entering a significant period of transformation, with rapid fintech innovation across markets such as India and Japan, while mature markets including Singapore and Australia continue advancing digital payments and AI-powered commerce.

Preparing for the Next Stage of Fintech Innovation

The appointment comes as payment technology providers continue investing in regional leadership to meet growing demand for digital commerce, embedded finance, and intelligent payment solutions.

As businesses increasingly operate across multiple markets, payment platforms are expanding both their technological capabilities and leadership structures to better support enterprise customers navigating a rapidly evolving financial ecosystem.

For Adyen, Gary Yang’s appointment represents another step in strengthening its leadership presence across Asia Pacific while continuing to support merchants operating in one of the world’s most dynamic digital commerce regions.
