InDebted Names Chris McNamara CEO and Brendan Lee CFO as It Pushes Into Its Next Phase of Global Growth

For fintech companies built around AI, reaching the next stage of growth increasingly requires more than better technology. The challenge becomes turning that technology into a global business without losing the product advantage that created the opportunity in the first place.

Australian fintech InDebted is reshaping its leadership around that challenge, appointing Chris McNamara as Chief Executive Officer and Brendan Lee as Chief Financial Officer, effective October 1. The appointments complete a CEO search that began earlier this year when founder Josh Foreman moved away from the chief executive position to concentrate on product, AI and R&D. InDebted

The change puts McNamara and Lee in charge at an important point for InDebted. The AI-native collections company is operating across six regions, expanding its product portfolio and reported 42% year-on-year group revenue growth alongside the appointments. InDebted

A Leadership Team Built for Scale

McNamara joins InDebted after serving as Chief Revenue Officer at Advanced Navigation, where he helped the Australian technology company scale to unicorn status. His career has also included senior go-to-market roles at Remote and Glassdoor, giving him experience growing technology businesses across the United States, Europe and Australia. InDebted

That international experience is particularly relevant for InDebted. The company has moved well beyond its Australian origins, with its solutions now available across Australia and New Zealand, North America, the UK, Latin America, the UAE and Europe. InDebted

McNamara now takes responsibility for converting that geographic footprint and InDebted’s technology into a larger global operation. Speaking to Capital Brief, he pointed to the continued use of older approaches across much of the collections industry as an opportunity for disruption and said the leadership team’s task is to bring InDebted’s capabilities to more lenders worldwide. Lee brings a different set of capabilities to the executive team.

Before joining InDebted, he was Managing Director and Head of Technology, Media and Telecommunications for Australia and New Zealand at Morgan Stanley. His career also includes experience with Goldman Sachs, Macquarie Group and McKinsey & Company, including advising technology businesses on growth and capital markets strategy. InDebted

Moving from investment banking into an operating CFO position gives Lee a direct role in shaping the financial side of InDebted’s next stage, as the company expands internationally and develops a broader technology platform.

From Debt Collection to Collections Infrastructure

The leadership change also reflects how InDebted itself is evolving.

Rather than positioning itself simply as a digital alternative to traditional debt collection agencies, the company is building technology across more of the collections lifecycle. Its current portfolio includes Collect, Receive, Release and Comply, combining third-party collections, first-party collections infrastructure, late-stage debt solutions and compliance technology. InDebted

That expansion accelerated earlier this year.

In March, InDebted launched Comply, making the compliance infrastructure behind its collections products available as a standalone API. The move allows lenders, fintechs and other creditors to integrate compliance controls into their own systems and represented a broader step toward opening InDebted’s underlying infrastructure as standalone technology. The company also introduced Release, an alternative approach to traditional debt sales that uses existing account performance data to value late-stage portfolios. The product initially launched in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. InDebted

Together, those products show why the executive transition matters. InDebted is no longer scaling a single collections offering. It is attempting to build a broader infrastructure layer around how lenders manage different stages of debt recovery.

Keeping the Founder Close to AI and Product

Foreman’s move is therefore an important part of the leadership structure rather than simply a CEO departure.

When the company began searching for a new chief executive, Foreman shifted into a dedicated founder role focused on product, AI and research and development. That separates two increasingly demanding jobs: advancing InDebted’s underlying technology and managing the commercial and operational requirements of a growing international company. It also allows InDebted to keep its founder closely involved in the area where the collections market is changing fastest.

AI is increasingly moving from assisting individual employees toward running more complete workflows. In collections, that creates opportunities around decision-making, customer engagement, compliance and the way accounts move through different stages of recovery.

InDebted is betting that its accumulated data and agentic technology can give it an advantage as that transition develops. Capital Brief

The Next Test Is Global Execution

The appointments give InDebted a clearer division of leadership as it enters that next phase: Foreman concentrating on technology and product development, McNamara leading the broader business, and Lee bringing financial and capital markets experience to the executive team.

The company already has international reach and a broader product portfolio than it did several years ago. The next challenge is turning those pieces into sustained global scale.

For InDebted, the leadership change is therefore less about replacing its founder than reorganising around what comes next: keeping product development moving quickly while building the commercial and financial structure required to take its AI-driven collections infrastructure further into global financial services.
