DataSentinel opens first Australian office in Brisbane, welcomes Wardy IT founder Peter Ward as advisor

New Zealand-headquartered managed data and analytics provider DataSentinel has marked a major milestone in its regional expansion by opening its first Australian office in Brisbane — and naming veteran data platform entrepreneur Peter Ward as a strategic advisor.

The move comes as DataSentinel responds to strong demand from Australian enterprises looking to modernise data platforms and analytics capabilities. The company, founded in 2019, began supporting local customers in 2022 and formally registered DataSentinel Pty Limited earlier this year to deepen its commitment to the Australian market.

“Peter’s experience building Wardy IT Solutions into a top-tier SQL Server consultancy, plus his leadership across multiple data ventures, makes him an ideal partner as we strengthen ties with Australian customers and partners,” said Paul Capstick, CEO of DataSentinel.

Bringing deep expertise to a growing partner ecosystem

Ward, a long-standing Microsoft Data Platform MVP, launched Wardy IT Solutions in 2004 before it was acquired by ASX-listed MOQdigital in 2019. He has since held senior roles at MOQdigital and Dijital Team, becoming known for championing data modernisation strategies and practical analytics.

“DataSentinel’s outcomes-focused services already resonate strongly in Australia,” Ward commented. “Together, we can help more organisations transform data estates and unlock new growth opportunities.”

Capstick added that the company is focused on building a partner-first ecosystem that works closely with MSPs, system integrators and cloud providers. Rather than compete with local resellers, DataSentinel provides the deep technical expertise and managed services behind the scenes — allowing partners to keep customer relationships and scale complex projects without adding in-house specialists.

“Our partner-first approach means resellers can offer advanced data services while staying focused on what they do best,” Capstick explained. “We’re starting with recruitment and enablement, and will keep adding services as local partner needs grow.”

Reinforcing trust through security and compliance

To further support its partner ecosystem, DataSentinel recently secured ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification for its information security management system (ISMS). This globally recognised standard underlines the company’s commitment to protecting sensitive data.

“Certification means our security controls are independently audited against the latest benchmarks,” Capstick said. “It reassures partners and customers they’re working with a provider that takes data protection seriously.”

Capstick noted the ISMS is designed as a “living framework,” with ongoing risk assessments and external audits, helping partners and end customers trust that data security standards will keep evolving alongside new threats.

Looking ahead, DataSentinel plans to introduce new services tailored for the Australian market, deepening support for enterprises across sectors such as government, retail, finance, and more — all while staying true to its partner-led, outcomes-driven strategy.
