Managed security services provider (MSSP) Infotrust has strengthened its executive leadership by appointing seasoned cybersecurity leader Jan Zeilinga as its new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
In this role, Zeilinga will set and oversee the strategic vision across several of Infotrust’s core technical service divisions, collaborating closely with clients to shape and advance their long-term security strategies in an increasingly complex threat landscape.
Simon McKay, CEO of Infotrust, described Zeilinga as a “perfect fit” for the company’s next growth phase.
“Jan’s leadership and experience across public, private and enterprise sectors give us even greater depth to tackle the most complex security challenges our clients face,” McKay said.
Zeilinga’s career spans more than 25 years in cybersecurity and information technology, making him one of the industry’s more respected figures in the Australian market.
Before joining Infotrust, he spent over two years as CISO at James Cook University, where he gained a reputation for leading comprehensive security programs that safeguarded critical data assets and infrastructure in a higher-education environment that faces unique digital threats.
Earlier in his career, Zeilinga founded identity and access management (IAM) consultancy First Point Global in 2000, which was later acquired by KPMG in 2015. Following the acquisition, he served as KPMG’s Chief Technology Officer of Cyber, helping enterprise and government clients implement advanced security frameworks. His background also includes IAM roles at major financial institutions such as ING Australia.
Beyond his technical expertise, Zeilinga is widely regarded as a mentor and advocate for developing new cybersecurity talent — something Infotrust hopes will further enrich its culture and client relationships.
This leadership move comes as Infotrust steps up its mission to deliver end-to-end cybersecurity solutions, including its Australian 24/7 Security Operations Centre (SOC), incident response, digital forensics and cyber resilience services. The MSSP serves critical infrastructure operators and enterprise customers, sectors under growing pressure from evolving ransomware, data breach, and nation-state threats.
“Cybersecurity has never been more business-critical,” Zeilinga said on his appointment.
“I’m excited to help our clients navigate this dynamic threat environment with strategies that don’t just defend but build resilience for the future.”
By bringing Zeilinga on board, Infotrust signals a commitment to deepening both its strategic advisory capabilities and technical service offerings, at a time when Australian organisations are ramping up security investment and embracing proactive approaches to cyber risk.
