Preventive healthcare is attracting growing investment as technology companies look beyond treatment and toward earlier disease detection. Advances in AI, medical imaging, and health data are creating new opportunities to identify potential health issues before symptoms appear.
Neko Health, the health technology startup co-founded by Spotify CEO Daniel Ek and Hjalmar Nilsonne, has raised $700 million in Series C funding to accelerate the expansion of its AI-powered health assessment platform.
The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and O.G. Venture Partners, following the company’s $260 million Series B announced in early 2025. Existing investors including Atomico, General Catalyst, Lakestar, Liberty City Ventures, Positive Sum, and BDT & MSD also participated.
Combining AI, Body Scanning, and Health Data
Neko Health has developed a proprietary body-scanning system that combines advanced imaging, physical measurements, and blood analysis to provide a comprehensive picture of an individual’s health.
The platform also integrates with Apple Health, allowing clinicians to incorporate everyday health data into patient assessments. Recent updates include body composition analysis, providing users with additional insights into muscle mass, body fat, and other fitness-related metrics.
Rather than replacing traditional healthcare providers, the platform is designed to support earlier detection and provide clinicians with more comprehensive health information.
Expansion Across International Markets
The company currently operates health assessment centers in Sweden and the United Kingdom, with plans to open its first U.S. location in New York.
According to Neko Health, more than 100,000 people have already completed health scans, while over 350,000 people have either joined the waiting list or booked appointments, highlighting growing consumer interest in preventive health technologies.
Growing Interest in Preventive Health Technology
Interest in AI-powered health screening continues to increase as healthcare providers and technology companies explore new ways to improve early diagnosis and long-term health outcomes.
One widely shared example came from Alex Tew, founder of Calm, who publicly said that a Neko Health scan identified a malignant mole that was later removed, highlighting how early detection tools can complement traditional medical care.
The broader market is also becoming more competitive. Companies across the technology sector are investing in next-generation health screening platforms, including Midjourney, which has announced plans to develop its own body-scanning technology as part of a future wellness experience.
Investment Signals Continued Momentum
The latest funding gives Neko Health additional resources to expand internationally, grow its clinical operations, and continue developing its AI-driven health assessment technology.
As demand for preventive healthcare solutions increases, the company is positioning itself at the intersection of artificial intelligence, digital health, and personalized medicine, reflecting a broader shift toward technology-enabled healthcare focused on earlier intervention and long-term wellness.
