New York-based startup Pangram is addressing that challenge after raising $9 million in new funding while introducing a new generation of AI detection tools designed for enterprises, publishers, educational institutions, and online platforms.
The funding round was led by Menlo Ventures, with participation from Haystack, ScOp, Script Capital, and Cadenza. Alongside the investment, Pangram introduced its latest AI text detection model, Pangram 4, as well as Pangram Image, a new AI image detection platform currently available in research preview.
Helping Organizations Verify AI-Generated Content
Founded by Max Spero and Bradley Emi, both graduates in artificial intelligence and machine learning from Stanford, Pangram was created in response to the rapid growth of AI-generated content across the internet.
Rather than relying on metadata or digital watermarks, the company’s detection models analyze writing style, language patterns, and visual characteristics to determine whether content was created entirely by humans, fully generated by AI, or produced through AI-assisted editing.
According to Pangram, its newest text detection model can identify AI-assisted writing with more than 99% accuracy, while also improving its ability to detect content that has been modified using AI humanization tools.
Supporting Enterprise Trust in the AI Era
As enterprises increasingly integrate generative AI into daily workflows, transparency is becoming just as important as productivity.
Pangram’s technology is designed to help organizations verify content authenticity across publishing, education, recruiting, compliance, and online communications. Instead of simply labeling content as AI-generated, the platform also distinguishes between fully AI-created material and documents that have received limited AI assistance.

Pangram also offers a Chrome extension that labels AI-generated content across platforms including LinkedIn, Reddit, Substack, Medium, and X, while providing users with an overall “feed health” score that estimates the balance between human-created and AI-generated content.
Competing in a Growing AI Detection Market
Pangram joins an increasingly competitive AI detection market alongside companies such as GPTZero, Copyleaks, Originality.ai, and Winston AI.
However, Pangram is positioning itself beyond simple plagiarism detection by focusing on enterprise-grade AI transparency. The company believes businesses will increasingly require reliable methods to verify digital content as AI becomes deeply embedded across corporate communications, publishing, legal work, education, and recruiting.
