Proteus at SPE Offshore Europe 2025

“At some point, we will be on the radar of every big software company on the planet.” – Colin Manson, CEO of Proteus.

At SPE Offshore Europe, Colin shared the kind of story every scaling founder will recognize: a tough grind, a breakthrough moment, and now, momentum that’s hard to ignore.

For the first four years, Proteus was all build, no revenue. That’s the reality of creating a product from scratch. But once the snowball started rolling, early clients, sharper sales processes, clearer buyer profiles; the company crossed break even and entered a new phase: scale mode.

What stood out most in Colin’s interview wasn’t just the ambition, but the balance:

  • Sales Expansion: New sales hires are already in Asia Pacific, with more teams coming onboard as Proteus doubles headcount over the next two years. But unlike many scale ups that rush growth, the focus is deliberate: growing where global clients already operate, and building a structure to sustain it.
  • US Entry: The American market is on the horizon. Hard to break into, yes but impossible to ignore. Proteus is preparing carefully for that move, knowing it’s a defining step.
  • ERP & CRM Evolution: What began as a proposal and project tool is steadily expanding into a more complete ERP ecosystem. Purchasing modules, invoicing, CRM and soon, AI-powered proposal automation, are turning Proteus into a connected, end-to-end system. Integration isn’t an afterthought; it’s core to the product vision.
  • USP That Resonates: Proposals remain the unique differentiator. While the project management space is crowded, nobody else has nailed the proposal-to-project connection the way Proteus has. Faster proposals mean faster business and more profit straight to the bottom line.

This mix of vision + execution is why Proteus feels so compelling. They’re not chasing growth for its own sake. They’re building the operational backbone; ERP, CRM, integration, to handle growth, then layering on regional expansion in APAC and the US.

At The Enterprise Edge, we’re always watching for the next breakout company in enterprise software. Proteus is one to keep an eye on, not just for what they’ve built, but for the way they’re building it.

Because when ambition meets execution, “being on the radar of every big software company” stops sounding like a bold claim and starts sounding inevitable.
